Happy belated 2022. Here we are, and its April already. The weather can’t make up its mind and my soul is desperate for Spring. A lot has evolved with my new series since my last blog post in 2021 so I thought I would give you an update!
I have a show coming up this October!! My studio mate, Jennifer Zoss and I proposed a two person show at a small volunteer run gallery in Robbinsdale called the Robbin Gallery and we won a spot! We have been working hard for the past year on putting together a new series of work that will be up for the month of October and we couldn’t be more excited (and nervous). I have never had my own show at a gallery and I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity. The new work I am making is all using images of women I have met through different channels who are 50 and older. The experiences I have had in meeting these women has been incredibly life affirming and impactful. I only hope I can make them proud of the time they have spent with me to make this work happen. I will post the opening reception and more info as we come closer to the show!!
New space!! I am finally taking the leap and renting my very own studio space. I have never had my own space. My current studio mate and I quickly realized once we got settled in our current studio that we would run out of wall space pretty quickly, which happened within a few months of being in there. I am super nervous about the move because it will be a big investment and because I will be flying solo. I know I am ready for this, and I am jumping in with the intention of having half my new space be a gallery for my work and the back half my working space. This will be a major upgrade for me as well because the space is on the second floor of the Northrup King Building (I am currently on the 4th floor). For anyone who hasn’t visited the building, it is a struggle to get people up to the 4th floor to gallery browse. This is especially true during events other than Art-A-Whirl and Art Attack. Hopefully this will help me create a wider audience and meet more people!
And thats it for now! Thanks for coming around and checking things out, I appreciate you!
