Hello and happy Spring!
I say this every time but, dang! It’s been a while since I’ve posted to my site. In the midst of juggling a family life, work, and trying to make art, lots of things fall by the wayside. Since taking a job as a Casual at Mia last October, I have been hustling hard. So far I have had the privilege of working at two Exhibitions and both have been so educational and fascinating. I can’t describe how much joy working in a museum has brought me. I love being there and continually learning about new work, artists and ideas. It is defiantly the most fulfilling job I have had and I hope to continue on with up coming Special Exhibitions.
I recently interviewed at a gallery in Wyoming, MN for a show in 2025. I presented work in person to a committee of six people and discussed my process and concepts. I am one of about 35 people hoping for one of the 14 spots available. I should hear back by mid May.
Art-A-Whirl is only a week away and I am defiantly excited but not ready! I’ve been scrambling to finish 3 pieces in an effort to have some fresh new work on my walls. On the flip side if I don’t get it all done, I’ve decided not to sweat it and make having fun a priority. My daughter, Cassie, is planning on selling her crochet work again this year as well and she has some super fun new items including bags and bandanas! She’s a crocheting machine!
Come see me at Art-A-Whirl, May 17th-19th!
I hope this finds you well and that your Spring is off to a great start!
Cheers, -Cara Jo
